Happy Birthday to me!

For my birthday I got the news that I do not have ovarian cancer!I have worried about this for the last year, being around the cancer ward does that to you and the fact that I schedule pap smears roughly every 20 years. I had convinced myself that I had it, I had the symptoms, I know that because my evil friend Marina sent them to me and when I went to the dr for the test she said "Oh I think I would like you to have another test" translation into valerie speak you have roughly 4 and a half hours to live. They scheduled the test for two days later, and it turned out just to be fibroid tumors HOORAY!! In my head I have been composing goodbye letters that rivaled Love story and Brian's song. Explaining to Bob and Sophie why I was not tested, I also promised God and Karma, I like to hedge my bets, that I would be nicer to Eileen, not nice but nicer If i said nice I might as well stick my tongue in a light socket and get it over with faster. Anyway huge sigh of relief and back to life. Valerie

  1. Why oh why do you keep these fears to yourself?? I guess you did at least share them with Marina, which is a huge improvement from your usual plan of extended self torture. Well, happy birthday just the same. All these people love you for a reason, you know. You didn't just happen to stumble upon the most clueless group in all of humanity.

  2. hooray!!! and happy birthday!!!
oh, and to "anonymous" [heheheh] I think I just played the part of coincidental omen by sending her a circulating email on the matter. So..."the wolf sheds her hair, but not the vice" like they say in Italy. hehehehe

  3. happy birthday friend! why in the hoohoo did you not tell me about this or your birthday on our phone convo 2 days ago????? i still freak out about cancer, i made the docs give me the vag ultrasound to make sure i was ok after my mom died. totally understandable, so glad you got tested instead of ignoring it longer. have a great day celebrating!!!

  4. Victoria, are you anonomous? I did not share fears until they are over. Much more dramatic that way. I find the tension keeps me sharp. Valerie

  5. Doesn't admitting that I'm anonymous sort of defeat the whole purpose? Actually I just changed my name to that. I figured you would know anyway.

  7. Oh Dear Friend, you've done yet another milestone without my knowledge, because we are such close friends I have missed your birthday! I am sorry, you were probably at my home eating cheesecake without my knowledge we could have been singing and doing the naked jig for yet another year of life. I hope Bob was able to give you cold hard cash for your birthday...... or a great round trip ticket to a tropical hot spot...like Okracoke(sp) unaccompanied by adults! Happy Birthday sweet friend...I love you so...Love Cassie
Give Sophie my love and tell her "Casey" says "HI."

  8. Oh Val,I wish I had known, but I am glad that things turned out well. So much of the evilness going around these days. Dad just told me at the yard sale today that he is going in Tuesday to have a biopsy on his lung done. As if it is not enough that Mom has it, now Dad might have it. I am glad you are home and close to them since I no longer live in the neighborhood. We need to plan a time when you and Sophie can come over and hang out at out new pad!
